From the ground
Accounts from people who did it
Somebody booked the hall, sat in the meeting, made the complaint or ran the vigil, and wrote down what actually happened. Including the parts that did not work.
Some of these answer a set of questions we ask: what was tried, what it cost, whether it worked. Where somebody has answered them the page says so at the top, so you can decide in ten seconds whether to read on. Where somebody has sent a piece instead, you get the piece. The questions are useful and they are not a form anybody has to fill in.
These are dated and they are personal. A contributor writes under their own name about something they did or saw, and it stays as published. The guides tell you how to do something, and they are maintained and corrected. These tell you what it was actually like when somebody did it, and they are not.
Where a piece carries the month it happened as well as the day we published it, both are shown. Nothing here is ever marked out of date, because a report from 2024 is not stale. It is from 2024.
We stood on Victoria Road with fifteen people and eighty police
Victoria Road, central London · March 2024 · Itai Galmudy
For months the marches through central London were called a policing success because nobody was showing up against them. This is what happened the first time an Israeli flag did.

My generation was not on the streets
Max Royston
Go and look at the photographs from the first counter demonstrations and count the people under thirty-five. Two years on, from somebody who had never once stood on a street in this country for anything Jewish.

What changed when quiet diplomacy stopped working
Catherine Perez-Shakdam
Jewish advocacy in Britain was built on relationships raised privately and boundaries broadly understood. Both assumptions have gone, and an account of what that means for where advocacy now has to be done.
